Prettiest Ski Resorts in the Swiss Alps!

The picturesque beauty of the Alps is unlike anywhere else in the world, with crisp white snow, vast mountains and quaint chalets. The Swiss Alps has its own particular kind of beauty and is often thought of as the most spectacular of all Alpine areas. What makes the Swiss Alps stand above the rest is the diversity in landscape, ranging from gorgeous meadows to icy mountains and lovely villages. So, if you’re looking for stunning views, then the Swiss Alps is the perfect holiday destination. Here’s our list of the prettiest ski resorts in the Swiss Alps to visit.

Champéry

Champéry, located 1h30min from Geneva and 3h20min from Zurich, is one of the oldest and prettiest ski resorts in Switzerland. Enjoy the largest resort connecting Switzerland and France (Les Portes Du Soleil) with 650km of slopes, 200+ lifts and 90 high-altitude restaurants with multiple snow parks.  A winter playground of skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sledding and more!  The region also offers a world class curling facility and relaxing thermal baths in Val D’Illiez.

The resort is famous for its surrounding scenery as it sits below the epic peaks of the Dents du Midi, with views of the equally stunning Dents Blanches. In addition to the scenic beauty is the charming traditional village which doesn’t get too overcrowded, meaning you can enjoy the gorgeous surroundings in peace. One noteworthy spot is Rue du Village, offering traditional wooden buildings adorned with beautiful flowers, each proudly displaying the Swiss flag. So, if you’re looking for gorgeous scenery without the busy crowds, then Champéry is a perfect choice!

Zermatt

One of the most popular and well-known Swiss ski resorts is Zermatt, situated 2 hours and 40 minutes away from Geneva. The town’s charm comes from the river Matter Vispa running through it and the iconic background of the Matterhorn, which is one of the most photographed mountain ranges in the world, making Zermatt a clear contender for Switzerland’s prettiest resort.

Providing a spectacular view is Europe’s highest cable car, the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. The viewpoint features a restaurant overlooking the stunning scenery, along with magical ice caves filled with intricate ice-sculptures. It’s clear that Zermatt is a breath-taking resort, and perfect if you want to take some Instagram-worthy snaps!

Verbier

Due to the high altitude, snow coverage is guaranteed in Verbier, so you’re sure to be met with a magical winter wonderland. This resort is home to a wide range of luxury accommodation, from ultra-stylish hotels to charming and cosy wooden chalets - the gorgeous surroundings will almost make you want to stay indoors!

Despite the beautiful architecture, the stunning outdoor scenery is the real star of the show. The vast peaks of Mont-Fort and Mont-Gelé provide breath-taking views, and if you make it all the way up, the euphoric feeling of being on top of the world is unrivalled. Verbier is one of Switzerland’s most popular resorts, and for good reason! You can be certain that the stunning surroundings will blow you away.

In our age of the internet and social media we’re always looking for a beautiful spot, whether it’s a restaurant, a town, or a holiday destination. If you’re looking for a ski holiday to remember then the Swiss Alps is the perfect place, with charming towns, impressive architecture and incredible natural scenery – the opportunities for pretty photos are endless!
